1. What this policy is about
1.1 This Cookie Policy explains how My Humdum Private Limited, CIN U63122MH2026PTC474555, registered office 6th Floor, WeWork Spectrum Tower, Building No. 11, Chincholi Bunder Road, Malad (West), Mumbai 400064, Maharashtra, India (“My Humdum”, “we”, “us”, “our”), uses cookies and similar technologies on the My Humdum website at www.myhumdum.com and any application we publish (together, the “Platform”).
1.2 It forms part of our Privacy Policy at www.myhumdum.com/privacy and our Terms of Use at www.myhumdum.com/terms. Words defined there have the same meaning here.
2. What cookies and similar technologies are
2.1 A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you return, your browser sends it back, so the site can recognise your session.
2.2 Local storage and session storage are similar. They let the Platform remember a small preference on your own device without sending it to us.
2.3 A pixel or web beacon is a small file loaded within a page or an email that records that the page or the email was opened.
2.4 We refer to all of these together as “cookies” in this policy.
3. What we do not do
3.1 We do not use advertising cookies. We do not run advertisements on the Platform.
3.2 We do not allow third party advertising trackers, ad networks, retargeting pixels or data brokers on the Platform.
3.3 We do not use cookies to build an advertising profile of you, and we do not sell or share cookie data with anyone for their own marketing.
3.4 We do not use your religion, community or caste, your astrological details or your partner preferences in any cookie or tracking technology.
4. The categories of cookies we use
4.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the Platform to work. Without them you cannot log in, stay logged in, or use the Platform securely. They cannot be switched off and they do not require your consent, because the Platform cannot be delivered without them.
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| sid | Keeps you signed in by linking your browser to your session on our server. Also used to keep an administrator signed in to the admin panel. | First party cookie | Until you log out, or 30 days, whichever is earlier |
| mh_cookie_consent | Records the cookie choices you made in the notice, so we do not ask you on every visit. | First party cookie | 12 months |
| Cross site request forgery token | Protects your forms and actions from being submitted by another site on your behalf. | First party cookie or session storage | For the session |
4.2 Preference cookies
These remember a choice you made about how the Platform looks or behaves. They make the Platform more comfortable to use. You can refuse them, and the Platform will still work.
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sidebar state | Remembers whether you collapsed the left sidebar. | First party local storage | Until cleared by you |
| mh_starters:<conversation id> | Remembers which conversation starter suggestions you dismissed in a particular chat, so we do not show them again. | First party local storage | Until cleared by you |
| Interface preferences | Remembers small display choices such as a tab you last used or a notice you dismissed. | First party local storage | Until cleared by you |
4.3 Analytics cookies
These help us understand, in aggregate and never at the level of an identified individual, how the Platform is used: which pages are visited, where people leave a flow, and which features are used. We use this to fix problems and to improve the product. You can refuse them.
| Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aggregate analytics identifier | Aggregate measurement of page views, sessions and feature use. | First party | 12 months |
We configure analytics to minimise data, and we do not use it to target you with advertising.
4.4 Security and anti fraud
We log technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the time of a request in our server logs. This is not a cookie, but it works alongside cookies to detect automated abuse, credential stuffing, scraping and fraud. We cannot switch this off, because it is how we keep the Platform and other Members safe. Server logs are retained for 12 months.
5. Third party resources loaded by the Platform
5.1 The Platform loads its fonts and icons from our own server. No third party is involved in showing the page.
5.2 Payments are processed by Razorpay, which runs the payment pages. When you are taken to a payment page, Razorpay sets its own cookies under its own policy, and that policy governs what it does with them. We are not bound by it and we are not responsible for it.
5.3 We keep the number of third party resources on the Platform deliberately small, and we review them periodically.
6. Your choices
6.1 The cookie notice. On your first visit you are shown a notice that lets you accept all cookies, refuse all non essential cookies, or choose by category. Strictly necessary cookies are always on.
6.2 Changing your mind. You can change your choices at any time from Settings, then Cookie preferences or by clearing your browser’s cookies for this site, which will make the notice appear again. Withdrawing your consent is as easy as giving it.
6.3 Your browser. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Look under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop you being able to log in.
6.4 Consequences of refusing. If you refuse preference cookies, the Platform will still work, but it will forget small choices such as whether the sidebar was collapsed. If you refuse analytics cookies, nothing changes for you.
7. How cookies relate to your consent under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023
7.1 Where a cookie processes personal data, we rely on your consent, except for strictly necessary cookies, which are required to deliver the service you have asked for.
7.2 Our consent notice describes, in itemised form, what each category does. You may withdraw consent at any time, as described in clause 6.
7.3 Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before the withdrawal.
8. Changes to this policy
8.1 We may update this policy when we add, remove or change a technology on the Platform. The version number and effective date at the top of this document are updated with every change.
8.2 Where a change introduces a new non essential cookie, we will ask for your consent before setting it.
